We were able to help over 15 people yesterday! Sunday afternoon I walked around Dupont Circle in DC, introduced myself to a few people, and told them about Batya, how she loved helping people, and how I'd love to be able to help them today in her memory. I then offered to buy them anything they'd like from CVS or Krispy Kreme.

Most people were shocked and very excited to request things. Some of the homeless people I spoke to were very excited about GBB and wanted to help volunteer in the future. One woman, Dana, whom I recognized from past GBB outings, thanked me on behalf of everyone I purchased something for and told me it was the most incredible thing for them to be asked what they wanted. Normally they simply take what they're given, so getting to choose what they wanted was very humanizing and special.

I got meals and snacks for some people; doughnuts and coffee, chocolate milk, or hot chocolate for others; and a dozen doughnuts for some parents to bring back to their kids. I even got lotion, body wash, and deodorant for some people. On top of that, I was able to have great conversations with many people who routinely get looked over and treated poorly by society. Enjoy some of the pictures from today below.
