Who We are

Batya Blitz was a champion of those who were marginalized by society. She had an uncanny ability to make people feel seen and special. When she came across someone in need, she would always talk to them and see their humanity. Batya would tell them about herself and ask about their lives, treating them with care and respect. If she didn’t have time to talk, she would find something unique about them and give them a compliment. But no matter what, Batya would always give them whatever she could - be it food, some friendly company, or a compliment - because she loved giving.
After Batya passed away, her best friend, Mo Goldberger, founded Giving Back for Batya to carry on her legacy. GBB is led by the values that Batya taught Mo about caring and giving. GBB strives to make the world a better place by giving all humans respect and dignity. We supply food, living necessities, smiles, and unconditional kindness to those who need it, and we aim to foster more goodness in the world by facilitating others to give back.
What We Do
We are always looking for ways to expand what we do and to continue fulfilling our mission. Currently, our main program is bringing a “store” to homeless encampments or public places with a large homeless population. We provide anyone who needs them with shopping bags or backpacks and allow people to shop for themselves from our assembly line of food, personal hygiene items, sanitary items, emergency blankets, refillable water bottles, and much more.
We have also started collecting old phones, tablets, and computers as donations to provide a library-type service where we are setting up shop. They will have an internet connection so people can use them in whatever way they’d like or need. Whether they are bored and want to watch something on YouTube or need to fill out job applications. We will have people available to help if there are any technical issues or if they need help with any sort of application. We also hope to launch a program where we can help people apply for food stamps and unemployment if they are relevant.
Lastly, we encourage all of our volunteers to always offer food or necessities to anyone who looks like they are in need. If they are walking in a city and see someone in need, we encourage them to buy something, such as food, water, personal care goods, and we refund them. This way, in our daily lives, we are helping people and spreading kindness.
